just early this morning, took the very last stitch in this quilt. so happy to see it finished. now for washing and it'll be ready to use....busted 11.5 yards of fabric on this....
and, as predicted, it isn't perfect. the pattern got basted down on a banquet table and one corner is a tad off but am not disappointed or sad. i loved making this quilt from the very first stitch and it'll be one of my heirloom quilts that i'll keep forever....just try hawaiian quilting if you haven't....it is so relaxing and rewarding. and to keep the momentum going, immediately put this little quilt in my frame and started the quilting...it'll be a quick finish. tackling the UFO list with a vengeance here at home....studio photos soooon!
Aloha! is right!! I absolutely love this, Grace; can't wait for studio pics!! Hugs~

ReplyDeleteYou are the only one who could ever see any imperfection! This quilt is so beautiful!! My motto is adopted from others: Finishing is better than perfection.
ReplyDeletelike many I am my own worst critic...but it surely isn't blue ribbon status...not that I care...
DeleteWonderful, Grace! I love that I have seen this in person! Such a beautiful creation.
ReplyDeleteI don't think this would be relaxing to me, but I'm glad you found it so. : )
Looking forward to seeing the studio!
Beautiful! Awesome job.
ReplyDeleteOh this is lovely! Did you make it in blocks like regular quilting, or all in one go?
ReplyDeleteSure wish I could see how you put it all together!! I've got a green and yellow batik that would look stunning made like this!
Where can I buy the pattern?
Thank you for sharing this beauty!!
white background is pieced a bit, the orange is a wide batik so no seams at all...folded and cut like a snowflake then opened up, pinned to white and basted then applique...quilting is echo quilting
Deletebeautiful........
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful. What alot of work went into it. Heirloom for sure.
ReplyDeleteWow ...💖
ReplyDeleteWhat an absolutely gorgeous finish. It's an heirloom for sure.
ReplyDeleteGrace - Congratulations on a magnificent achievement. It looks sensational. Please consider entering it in a quilt show - I'm sure many other quiltmakers would be thrilled to see it. It's a classic style of quilt that not many of us actually get around to tackling. And your choice of applique fabric is unusual, but stunning. Wow, wow, wow.

as I mentioned, one of the arms is off a bit meaning it doesn't point directly to the corner, so not really worthy...
DeleteGrace, your quilt is simply stunning. I agree with Megan. You should enter it in a show. The pattern, fabric choice, workmanship and hand quilting make for a masterpiece! Congratulations on a fabulous finish.
ReplyDeleteam very happy with the applique work and the hand quilting...but see comments above
