the heat wave has abated and now enjoying more moderate temps...56 tonight? i can't wait....so it seemed appropriate to get this fallish flimsy runner together...pretty simple and un-wow like....
it'll get machine quilted and bound and off to somebody special....and since the design wall looked a bit bare, wanted to start a new project but ignored that thought and pulled out this UFO....
this has been on the back burner far too long...each time i worked on it, was totally unenthusiastic altho i like it a lot....quickly realized the center block with those tiny triangles have been the road block....needing only 24 of the 12-inch blocks, am resolutely determined to get them done. first i'll get those pesky center blocks with the triangles out of the way; from then on it's simple strips and squares....once they are cut and ready, should work up quickly. these blocks and the little maple leaf blocks will be my machine projects...the 365 is the hand quilting project AND the cabana daydreams, once the replacement thread arrives. next week planning on tying the blue and tan strip top for a quick finish....

catching up
took me nearly a week to recover from a month of chaos, but finally was able to spend the weekend and today sewing up a storm. it's been hot and humid, so perfect to do just that. had previously mentioned the blue logs donation flimsy...well here it is, all ready to tie and bind.
after that, pieced a wall quilt tree for my mother. while i don't use fusibles, for this will use a firmer iron-on pellon interfacing as she will use this for her holiday decorating. it'll be good to hang her ornaments from and maybe even clip some lights. real trees are forbidden, of course.
then finished piecing this guild donation that will also be tied. have already finished one and these both will go to the local cancer center infusion clinic to keep patients warm during treatment. i had posted a couple of blocks earlier. have to say this is the fastest pattern i've ever used, i do believe.
lastly, the borders for the plaid stars got assembled and added for another flimsy ready for quilting.
now i think the bernina has earned a bit of a rest. while searching for something else, unearthed a couple of cross-stitch UFOs so hoping at least one can get done during this hot week. then it'll be back to quilting the 365,,,,
