had a busy sewing weekend.....more quilting on the DWR and more blocks on 'wensleydale'.....goal for the upcoming week is at least 5 more blocks....thought about 10 but that's pushing it....first off, tho, is to corral this pile....
here are 20 all done.....
and while instagram time has been significantly curtailed, did come across this photo....
brother #2, about age 2 so 1959 probably.....can always pick him out of photos due to his nearly white blond hair.....
brother #1 on an overcast day....the weather almost never stopped us....
lunchtime! it was always burgers and dogs first....then lobster and steamers....plus all that goes with....my aunt was in charge of grill--we had to bring our own wood....first thing coffee pot went on. several different areas of this park...this was the picnic area and a short walk away was open surf. a large bath house, snack bar, lagoon area for little kids (no waves)--shady pine trees, open beaches, rocky coastal areas...it has everything! fierce undertow and frigid water....july 4th hovered around 50 degrees....we were the first to arrive and last to leave, squeezing every moment. that's me bending over just beyond mom; my grandmother and aunts and youngest brother with that tell-tale hair. precious memories....
back to monday.....aside from more blocks nothing really doing this week...but thankful still for free time and nice days before the hots arrive....life is indeed good!

The wave print in your stack of Wensleydale blues is a propos.Beach dreaming! I've been to Reid State Park, but as a Lake Michigan swimmer (now wader) the ocean was sooo cold even in July.....

DeleteWhat fun memories. And to see the place the way it is today. So sweet. Love your blues and the blocks on the wall.
ReplyDeletethank you!
DeleteI enjoyed the memories and the pictures. It's so wonderful to have those family memories. We would go camping in our little camp trailer up in Logan canyon for about a week in the summer. Lots of good memories there. Your Wensleydale is beautiful. The colors your have chosen give it a bit of elegance.
ReplyDeletethank you robin...i really like how it's turning out...ah memories...my elderly aunt was widowed, no children, and in her last year would just sit around moping and lonely...it prompted me and mum to have as much fun as we could so we would have memories to keep us company later on....
DeleteI love goals. Sharing them with others helps me get them done. Good job on yours.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your memories and photos. We never had lobster because we don't live near the ocean. Everything else is similar to my memories.
