the heat dome, that is. oppressive heat continues...weatherman called it a heat wave but when temps don't fluctuate that much, not sure how he figures that. my dearest daughter braved heat and took me out wednesday afternoon...haircut, farmer's market, grocery...she is definitely a keeper. it was a boost to my mental outlook as well a PLUS as cruising around the store provided some much-needed cardio.
getting down to the wire on s'mores....
the next photo i post of this will, i say WILL be the finish...a few more blue album blocks to assemble then it's on to the flimsy. dargate basket progress plods along. i am weary of these 3 projects. fortunately a cruise on the internet revealed this...
i'm going to modify the shape a bit and use it for my liberty stash. it will commemorate my daughter's tea at the savoy when she visited london. it was a grand event for her and will be gifted when done, but won't be started right away. another UFO is up next....
actually it's TWO ufos...pulled out this tote of batik scraps to make blocks--baskets and moth in window (bonnie hunter pattern)...so it's a DUO UFO....a change from the blues. this project along with the chookshed challenge PLUS more hand quilting and a bit of cross stitch will keep my mind off horrid hot weather, made worse as there's no maine vacay in my future, nothing fun ahead. working very hard not to sink into depression abyss.
and must end this post with a tribute....today would have been my parents 77th anniversary....the first together in 22 years in their heavenly home....glad for them but still very sad for me....
time to crank up a/c again....eeeeek! i've always said i'd rather cold weather than hot...easier to get warm than to stay cool....
It's hard for me to stay positive when it's so hot so I'm glad your staying busy. I wish I was as close to being done on my S'mores quilt. I do almost have a finish. I'll complete the quilting on the border today on my 'All Around Town" quilt. Then I can bind it and make a sleeve and FINALLY work on something else. I decided to start a donation quilt yesterday. I made one block but it didn't turn out the right size so it was a little discouraging. One month down of heat and only two more to go.
ReplyDeleteHappy Heavenly Anniversary to your precious parents. So glad that you had a much needed outing with your girl. It's been hot here too, the humidity today is excessive. I know a quilter in SC who built a new home some years ago and didn't have any A/C installed, says she doesn't ever see a need for it. I wonder how she survives some of the oppressive nights. Stay cool, I don't need to remind you to stay busy! ;)
ReplyDeleteSmores is almost there - good job!
ReplyDeleteLove the steaming tea cup you found online! I will enjoy seeing that come together.
It has rained - well even flash flooded - here this past week with daily short, powerful storms. It cools it down some.
Great projects to keep you busy. I guess all of our UFOs are because we get tired of working on the same things for too long. :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great outing with your daughter. And I can see how much harder the heat and isolation could be without the promise of your Maine vacay.
Sweet wedding photo of your folks.
I am with you on the preference for cold over heat!
Lovely to have a day out with your daughter, even if it was for the grocery shopping. Love the progress and plans you have made.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you have AC. Hang in there Grace!
ReplyDeleteThe batiks are particularly enticing. Air conditioning is a wonderful invention.
