that would be the heat dome....yes, records broken over the weekend and still hanging around....running the sewing machine drowned out the constant whirring of the electric meter while a/c pumped on...got this top done and packed for the thrift...
nearly all my blue batik stash used up and one of three blue projects off the sewing table.
what else? lots of quilting time and i believe i WILL finish s'mores this week. recently gifted this gadget.
i knew about it long ago but never tried...now i am a convert! keeps the quilting moving along steadily...the brown quilting thread was chosen, not a great choice. using it on dark fabrics doesn't permit monitoring stitches, so it's another humble quilt by me i'm afraid.
more dargate basket blocks got appliqued, some cross stitching, more album blocks--only 12 left to put together and can work on the flimsy. the lobster runner got basted, plan to finish it in the next day or two. no laundry was done nor kitchen floor washed either. did have to do a bit of cooking of course and some PT exercises as well. i do miss going to the gym immensely. it seems every time i get into a groove, some annoying misfortune derails my momentum.
summer 1/3 over and i've still a hefty to-do list..hoping for good progress this week.
so that's it for photos....keep COOL and quilt on!
Summer only started Thursday. Lots more to go. Thank heavens for A/C. Dotti in CT
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Summer starts June 1st and it's hard to believe it's almost over. That's great the S'mores quilt is almost finished. I haven't posted in almost 2 months and it's because all I've been doing is hand quilting so not really anything to show. My friend and I went walking this morning but her knee was bothering her so we didn't even make one time around the track - so much for some exercise. Hope you can get back in your exercise regimen soon.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty top from the blue batiks. Blue and white quilts are my favorite 2-color combo--so soothing, and that makes it great to enhance sleep. :)
ReplyDeleteDoes that gadget thread a bunch of needles, or something? I recall having been shown one once, but now don't recall what it did.
Even though you can't do what you would like to do, it seems you make the most of the time you have. I am always impressed by your productivity.
That's a great use of your blue batiks - very effective and pretty top. Glad you have the AC to help with the heat and your sewing to do while it's going.
ReplyDeleteLovely finish. Great that you have the AC running to keep you cool.
ReplyDeleteUnder the Dome (here too, it's sizzling!) reminds me of a Stephen King series that we started watching on Netflix, it was so strange and weird that we couldn't continue. Glad you're enjoying the needle case, I couldn't be without mine!! Clover makes many notions and they're all worth checking out; I certainly don't have all of their notions but they know their stuff and the ones that I do have I could recommend to anyone!
ReplyDeleteWhat are the dimensions of the scrappy blue blocks? How did our forebears manage without air conditioning?
ReplyDeleteI think it is healthy to have a healthy to do list as it keeps us busy and focused on getting things done.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for modern comforts that cool down our houses.
