as a true mainer, this is the kind of tree i love....
with a lot of free time over the holiday, cruising the 'net i found ancestors on both sides who were in maine in the 1600s...so there you have it....what else did i do to keep busy?
finished this little snowmen wall quilt for dear daughter who visited and now resides in her home...a quick wash and it might be on her door already! she spied the red/green economy block scrappy and requested that as well...
turkey day awoke late and spent most of day quilting, now on last side of 'wildest dreams'...cruising instagram and reading blogs...baked cookies...pulled out christmas tote....texting family in maine....today absolutely must clean fridge and more quilting of course!
word to the wise sewist...
have a blessed day!

What a clever Christmas tree! Glad you kept yourself occupied (out of trouble ). Of course Stevens had Maine ancestors, too, and knew about some of them. But what he didn't know was that they (at least one family) lived in Auburn, where we lived 200 years later!
ReplyDeleteI have that snowman fabric! Now I know what to do with it!
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting tree. How nice that two of your quilts have found a new home. That is why we quilt!
ReplyDeleteLOL Love the Christmas tree, folks can be so inventive. Those snowmen look jolly.
ReplyDeleteOh, I do love that Christmas tree!
ReplyDeleteI have only traced Maine ancestors on my Mother's side back to Maine. The Crockett line was in Vinalhaven, on the Fox Islands for a few generations, I believe, before my 4 x great grandfather came to Utah. When we visited Maine after hubby retired in 2021, we went to the Island where his father and other family members were buried.
The snowman wall quilt turned out well, and it appears that it has found a good home.
Sounds like you had a productive holiday. After preparing rolls, stuffing and pies, I stayed home with a cold while hubby and our visiting youngest son took the food and went to my sister's for dinner.
LOL--Wise counsel about grocery stores Thanksgiving week!
Love the snowman piece! That Christmas tree is a hoot! Loved it. Have a wonderful day Grace!
ReplyDeleteNice tree made out of Lobster cages:) It seems like we have had three or four Sundays in a row:)
ReplyDeleteI don't have any Mainers in my genealogy, the closest I can come is some early puritans that lived in Connecticut. I enjoy your loyalty to the state. I have lived in so many places that none of them feel more like home than any other. Enjoyed seeing your snowman quilt. It's nice when someone likes a quilt enough to request it.
