the friday holiday was an uber sewing day for me...remember that baggie of christmas scraps? pulled them out, sorted by precut squares (4.5"), biggie scraps, smallest unsuitable for my purpose and others used for strips. got 5 stockings done to the point of adding cuff, lining and hangers.
had so many santa scraps, made 2 with just those scraps. my co-sewist has the other 15 waiting for backs, lining, cuff and hangers. a sewing day is planned to get them all done.
then, took the precut squares and pieces that could be cut for a scrappy top for the center to sell. not nearly enough squares, so assembled some from the gazillion 1.5" strips left from the stockings.
enough christmas!! pulled out the 'alaska' project. here's the layout of the blocks...still far to go but did finish another baggie of 4 blocks.
the center block. the next 2 baggies will finish the center row, which hoping to have by end of july. would consider that significant progress albeit not anywhere near finished.
this is entirely hand pieced and will be hand quilted of course....other than this sewing, not much shaking here in 90s maryland...this week more vacay prep with haircut, cleaning fridge, mail my quilt off to maine quilts...this week really must get back to quilting 'dreams'....
counting my blessings and paying homage to this genius....

You are busy lady! What is the length of your stockings? They do look cheerful. My niece loves scrappy and I’ll share with her. My friends brother is from Maine and she is also heady there for a visit. Hope you have a wonderful time. Dotti in CT. Have you ever hand quilted for anyone else?
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the stockings!!! They look great! The new quilt 'alaska' quilt is stunning!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat work reducing the Christmas scraps. The stockings should sell quickly. Alaska is such a great design! (Did you get it as a kit?)
ReplyDeleteYour stockings are SEW sweet; yes, we all owe a great deal of thanks to Mr. Carrier! ;)
ReplyDeleteYou sound like you've got all kinds of energy. It must be because of the upcoming getaway. The stockings look great. Christmas fabric always cheers me up. The blue fabric for the Alaska quilt is a really shade and a nice contrast with the lighter colors.
ReplyDeleteThe stockings were perfect Christmas in July stitching. I admire you taking on Alaska. I love the design, but don’t think I’d have the patience. So that is where Carrier air conditioning got its name.
ReplyDeleteUsing the strips for the stocking is a fantastic idea! You are really using up your Christmas scraps! Love that Alaska quilt too! Stay cool!
ReplyDeleteThe stockings look great and so does the Alaska quilt.
ReplyDeleteoh what great stockings!!
ReplyDeleteGreat job with all your Christmas stockings!!! So well ahead of time, too! Alaska quilt is going to be amazing!
ReplyDeleteAlaska is looking wonderful. I need to bump it up in the queue to get it going.
