dreary day?

ignoring the laundry basket giving me the evil eye, dove into scrap shoeboxes instead.  lack of sunshine sent me to starting the repro quilter's sew along...those little economy blocks.

in less than 3 hours had all these littles assembled...will have to raid stash to finish them with reds and greens.  they finish at 4" and not sure yet how many i'll make but again, it won't be a big quilt.

tuesday was a washout day for me...erratic sleeping habits left me with no energy whatsoever, but wednesday did manage quite a bit of sewing....

got the final border on the tree of life project...not yet ironed so might have to tweak the top border a bit...i measured twice before cutting the borders so hoping it isn't off.  i have decided on the half hexie flowers for the gold border and whole ones for the corners...the outside border design is planned and started as well.  even prepped the binding.  so happy to move this project along.

some quilting on 'dreams' got done and sewed some on african wax resist circles project.

it has seemed like a long week but keeping up with exercise waiting on really good weather...warmer but rainy this weekend so not here yet.  avoiding the news mostly but what little i do see really sickens me.  as one who relies on state assistance programs, continued support seems tenuous but must wait to see how all plays out.  like the feds, the state is also in a budget crisis which never bodes well for those who need it most.

  1. The half hexies will totally make that "Tree of Life" quilt!

  3. Just love your daffodils on the masthead. Oh, for spring to arrive here. We still have frost on the ground. But I admire all that you have accomplished. It is funny hour our habits whether sleeping or other can really wreck havoc with our ability to accomplish things.

  4. The Tree of Life quilt is turning out so well. I’m looking at the Repro Quilt Lover blocks and wondering if I should join in. Still thinking on it.

  5. You're moving along well on your projects. I like to think I need to get things done so when the weather does break I can be outside more. We are going to have beautiful temps here today but rain tomorrow.
I know what you mean about the news. I avoid it completely but some bits and pieces seep past my barrier. I can't believe it's been less than 2 months. What will four years look like?

  7. The economy blocks in Christmas colors are so cheerful and fun. I normally love cloudy gray days but since it's supposed to be spring I want sunshine and bright days. We got more snow Thursday and Friday AND there is supposed to be more tomorrow. We need the moisture so it's a good thing. The header photo says it all.

  8. I love the economy blocks. I think Sheryl at Temecula had something similar on her blog not too long ago, and it really caught my eye. Then Taryn's...and now yours. I am not sure how much more temptation I can resist.
Nice job on the Tree of Life. I like the half hexie border plan.
Here's hoping (and praying) that reason prevails where the government is concerned. Is that too much to hope?

  10. I love your Square in a Square blocks, I am currently constructing a runner with those. I'll show it soon. It's been extremely difficult for me to post anything lately. Yesterday marks 3 months since Mom's passing and it is suddenly so real to me. Hard to explain, it's always been real and I haven't been in denial, but now it's just different. Mom was my most faithful blog reader, when her eyesight permitted reading, she'd always call and comment on this, that or whatever. How I miss those phonecalls. Anyway, enough about me. Sending warm, springtime hugs your way today~
