2025 is my 46th year of quilting. like most beginners, that night school course produced a sampler quilt, now long gone, and sent me off into quilting nirvana. i have improved a lot since then but truth is, i can still produce a dud....and here is the current one--a definite miss.
i thought it might be cute....those bugs have lots of little hearts on them...was going to add letters to top and bottom to read LOVE BUG.. every morning it was on the design wall, those bugs looking more like petrified cow patties...but can't bring myself to spend another minute on it. conversely, there are days when things go well....as for today, a bit of cooking was done....thought it was going to snow but apparently off until sunday. no matter, no where to go. sunday is devoted to quilting the 'oz' piece as i am anxious to get to 'wildest dreams'. then it's another week with a nearly empty calendar and more storms they say. but i do believe this is winter's last gasp in maryland...
Those swirling circle blocks are gorgeous! Kudos!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are right about winter's last gasp, we're expecting 3-5 inches tonight on top of the glare ice we have everywhere from the past few freeze -thaw cycles. It's been treacherous trying to get around. So ready for winter to move on out.
ReplyDeleteSnow missed us-thankfully again. You make me want to do the math on how long I've been quilting.
ReplyDeleteCow patties? LOL! Even an experienced quilter has a dud from time to time. I made my first quilt in 1974 but didn't become A Quilter until the early 90's.
ReplyDeleteWe are headed back into the deep freeze this week:(
ReplyDeleteYour “rising sun” is definitely a success! I agree with you about your “dud” but I assure you we have all had them!🙂. Kudos for trying!!
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy looking at my earliest quilts (1980's) and seeing how patterns and instructions have changed, too!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute and "real" post. We all can still produce a dud, although I beg to differ that any quilt can be beautiful. The quilting can completely change it.
