getting there

that would be the bow ties project....now that i'm quilting the sashings, i find it's moving along a bit faster than first thought...in a morning, can get 4-5 of them quilted so december finish it will be.   i have a turquoise binding prepped but don't think i'll use it...not sure if there's enough of the plum left either....stay tuned...

sewing time has been sacrificed to get out christmas decorations....tree is up and quite ornament heavy...

and my folk nativity is getting displayed this year...i think it was done last year but no sleeve, so that was done and can hang on the wall now...

and this cheery placemat came home with me from mom's...i thought the teary episodes were under control but seeing her things in my home without her here has been tough...next year i'll do better i'm sure...

i'll post some other decorations in the future.  focusing on gratitudes and blessings daily will get me thru this first holiday without her, i expect.  after all, christmas is a season of hope and joyful anticipation...

  1. Best of wishes to you for the whole of the 1st holiday season.
Your tree is darling and is decorated in my favorite way . . .
with memories. The bowties are going to be done in no time.

  2. First, I keep forgetting to say how much I like your heading photo!!!! The quilt sure is coming along--that is a LOT of hand stitching! The tears-they are allowed and healthy I would say! Hugs.

  3. So do you have a color in mind for the binding?
Sweet tree. I have mine up, but not decorated at all.
    Beautiful folk nativity quilt.
The first Christmas is always the hardest, but I think we will always be drawn to think of those we miss during the holidays, when things are so oriented around our loved ones. And we feel the loss because we have felt the love, right?

  4. Your decorations are so nice, Grace.......maybe sometime you could do a post featuring all the family photos on the wall and who they are?

  5. That is a lot of stitches in the quilt. I love a tree with everything on it but the kitchen sink. I am new here, so sounds like you have just lost your mom...so sorry for your loss.
