design wall

quick post to show the progress on "pervenche"....altho it doesn't look french at all so it has a new name...."tuscan starburst"...got 2 blocks done so far....have to say they don't take too long to sew, even by hand...

the jury is still out on the blue toile...i don't think that's the right fabric for those setting pieces...will wait until all blocks are done and then audition several to see what works better....

if you love a good mystery, i can strongly recommend louise penny....this is her latest and 18th in the "three pines" series and hands down, the very best in my opinion.

still under the weather from my harrowing week, started the book friday and spent saturday in bed (mostly) and finished it...just what doctor me ordered!  i like good whodunits, avoid paranormal, slasher or psychotic-type themes, and this did not disappoint.  *** now bring on the week!

  1. Those new blocks look interesting! Hope you feel better soon. LP is one of my favourite authors and I have that book but will keep it for the cottage will be happening in a few months.

  2. Louise Penny is wonderful! I'm in line for the audiobook though the hardcover copy is on the "finished" stack in the living room. What an intricate block! I recognized your blocks as a Quiltmania pattern even before I went back to see your previous post. They are beauties.

  4. Your blocks look great. Your new name does suit it better. I haven’t heard of that author. I’ll have to look her up.

  5. Your blocks look great and you're right, not very French.

  6. Can't believe how quickly you put those blocks together. They look great. Will watch with interest to see what you decide to use as the background.
Not familiar with that author, but I agree with the criteria you list for a good whodunit.

  7. Your starbursts are GORGEOUS. I've made a note of this book title. My husband and I are going to see A Man called Otto tomorrow, I hope it doesn't disappoint because I loved the book! I pray that you're feeling much better now, my friend.
