it's that time...one monthly goal report...happy to say reached mine with this finish...linking up with elm street quilts to document my finish....
all done and delivered to daughter and SIL yesterday....they love it so i'm happy....when she was growing up, my working robbed her of much valuable nurturing, so anything i can do now before it's too late makes me happy. and the monthly mini?
it's the christmas elves topper....glad to see those elves finally used and not stuck in the scrap basket...just so darn cute with a lot of fussy cutting and fudging required...
and this morning finished this....wonky and imperfect? no way!! rustic and primitive i'd say...LOL...but definitely an autumn feel....
best of all, the beginning of the end for the plaid scraps in this particular drawer...and had just the right gold for the binding too...
to-do list is getting shorter with only a few things remaining before vacation...sounds improbable, but even without regular work, a break in the routine is sorely needed, especially with this pandemic hanging around, the surgery and so much disheartening news in the media. for the first time in a very long time, experienced profound loneliness that not even sewing could remedy...short-lived but very real nonetheless...thankfully passed and looking forward to a life recharge!
Great finishes, Grace! I really like the little plaid quilt.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting how much a change in environment, or activities, or people (or lack of a change) effects us. So glad you're going to be away on vacation for a while.
thanks...
DeleteLots of great work! I love the "rustic" table runner! Using up bits and pieces leaves room for new stuff. Have a wonderful vacation and come home refreshed! Blessed Be.
ReplyDeleteYou can only do what you can do and if that's now that you can do things for your daughter that's great......
ReplyDeleteI've had patches of feeling completely hopeless..... There is so much going on....... How can things become hopeful has been challenging ..... Take care.... Sending hugs......
I think all 3 finishes are fabulous! I adore the Christmas topper. Those elves are so adorable! You've had a very productive month. You've earned the upcoming vacation!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job on the quilt for your daughter. I like the subtle shading is a great effect.
ReplyDeleteThose elves are stinkin' cute. Good that you could give them a showcase.
I always love when you work with plaids.
So sorry for the loneliness. I'm afraid this pandemic is making that all too real for people who live alone, and have to stay fairly isolated for their health. You know it is running deep when quilting can't fix it--but I am grateful it was short-lived. Hope the vacation gives you a much needed refresh!!
Lovely! Thanks for linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal and congratulations on your finish.
ReplyDeletePrayers, Grace, for a much needed recharge of the batteries. Sending big hugs~
ReplyDeleteAll three projects are so nice. It's nice that we can show love and attention through our quilting right? I think your primitive piece is really nice - it's lively. Loneliness has to be one of the worst feelings.... I like your term "life re-charge" - that's a good concept!
