another week has flown by despite weariness with the pandemic, the mask, the isolation, the boredom etc....no doubt you are feeling the same. this week finally received my first shot as did my mom, so there is light at the end of this very long tunnel. there were times i didn't feel at all like sewing or doing anything really...one day was a total wash...there was some progress tho.....
'hosanna' is a finish....in plenty of time for holiday hanging too....with a delightful toile backing that makes the back as nice as the front....
so happy to see this finally......and some marathon machine time resulted in this...
still a long way from a flimsy here but good progress.....always have the urge to start a new project but thankfully the UFO list has kept me from doing so....i really would like to chop the list in half this year if possible....can always pull one out to work on to alleviate boredom when it crops up....
and would like to direct you to this website....NEW ENGLAND QUILT MUSEUM (neqm.org)
to see a preview of one of their current exhibits....quilts by my friend wendy reed of maine. even if you can't visit in person, just seeing a few of her beautiful quilts is inspiring and exhilarating. i am so very happy the museum has highlighted her work....and kudos to the original museum committee....i remember the infancy of this project and thought they were nuts....but they persevered and had some help along the way and was finally established....
one more week to daylight saving time...yippee....no more dark mornings!

I just emailed you an assembly page for the double wedding ring. Can’t wait to see it together with that sea of blue!
ReplyDeleteWhat awesome progress on your UFOs. Keep it up!
That Hosanna quilt is just wonderful! And the beautiful toile makes it so you can use it either way.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your DWR assembled. Maybe it will motivate me to work on mine--or not. Too many projects in progress right now.
I am really anxious to get out and see Wendy's show. I am so stir crazy. Don't know if it will happen, but I am looking into the possibility.
Beautiful Hosanna quilt and your DWR is going to be striking!
ReplyDeleteWonderful finish! I hear you on the malaise brought on by continuing restrictions. I keep wondering when the CDC will send out a list of how immunized folks should behave. (Besides giddy beyond belief!) I keep two lists of UFOs. One is what is normal -- projects incomplete. The other is quilt tops waiting to be quilted. I generally have kept quilts as tops as they don't take up as much room. But I've been whittling away at the list. On the other hand I've been making fast smaller quilts to take a spot on the list! It's a never ending pair of lists. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the shoutout about the exhibit. I do wish you were closer, I plan on going down once or maybe twice. I'm going to wait until after my second shot! Your Hosanna quilt is stunning, and you are right, the back is almost as pretty as the front. I hope that Spring will bring a new wave of hope for this ending of this pandemic. At least it should brighten our spirits a bit. Take care!
ReplyDeletemy pleasure all around wendy...well deserved...your work always inspires me...coming up april but alas won't get to the museum...
DeleteHosanna is just fabulous! The palm leaf blocks were a perfect choice, of course, and the fabric with music and pink chicks is perfect, too. I love this quilt, both front and back!
ReplyDeleteWish I lived close enough to see Wendy's quilts in person. Will you be able to visit?
no afraid not....i've seen some of them at previous maine quilt shows...all stunning of course
