nope, didn't get to housework this weekend as planned....and this is why
an idea that turned out exactly as hoped....at marianne's get together nearly two years ago, fabric was flung and these green hand dyes came my way. they were small pieces, scraps really, but too pretty to use just anywhere. saw this block--aptly titled hosanna--triggering quilty muse. used my cute little bird fabric for sashings and the whole time i worked on this, my sunday school lesson on palm sunday percolated in my mind. couldn't be more pleased with the result. it'll get hand quilted SOON and then binding with green in time for palm sunday. and just this morning heard a bird outside my window, in spite of THIS!!!!
weatherman says over by one-ish....and then warmer all week, hoping this is the last. so no more excuses, will be tackling that housework now. and if you are of a certain age, today is notable for this gentleman....

It is fabulous Grace! Hope you don't mind if I link it in with our monthly minis at the end of the month. And, mimeograph is not a word I have heard in a long time. I can still smell the ink!
ReplyDeletedon't mind at all...honored...if i close my eyes, i'm sitting back at my desk at miss fancy's 4th grade classroom in winthrop....lol
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful mini, Grace. Great vision to see the possibilities for those little green scraps!
ReplyDeleteOh, I loved the smell of the fluid in the mimeograph machine. Was always a treat to be the one to take something to the office for the teacher to get it mimeographed and be able to carry back those freshly made pages and smell them all the way! :)
I remember when the office would deliver fresh, cool and damp mimeographed worksheets to our classroom. We would lay them on our faces and breathe in deeply, oh, it smelled so good! The damp coolness felt so good too!!!
ReplyDeleteGod bless America, indeed! Yes, I well remember the coloring sheets, the actual birthdays for Lincoln and Washington and those mimieograph machines and the intoxicating smell. Your Hosanna quilt is absolutely wonderful in every way! Bravo!!
ReplyDeleteGrace, I love your "Hosanna"!! Just perfect!
ReplyDeleteYour Hosanna quilt is wonderful - thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful top! You were right to quilt instead of houseworking ;))
ReplyDeleteAt first, I read, "Rosanna" and thought, "but her name is...Grace?" And then I read it again. Duh! It's a really pretty little quilt.
ReplyDeleteA lovely quilt... perfect for hand quilting!
