corona-cation, episode 48

if you follow this blog, this piece will be familiar....the new england sampler.  waiting on thread for the next hand quilting project, so spending time trying to get this to a flimsy....it's one of my very oldest UFOs and needs to be done.

hoping you notice that much progress has been made...i think i have 2 of those endless leaves left to applique and have started on flowers.  still gonna require a lot of time before it can be basted.

and because i've made such good progress on the UFO list...pulled out a project that was slated for 2021 and started with the freezer paper.  it's another applique piece but not as involved as the sampler...

i enjoy applique and have been hoping that doing more will improve my technique but so far not so much.  this project has some tricky little pieces, but it's folk art so that gives me some fudging room.

this will be the last post titled 'corona-cation' because, let's face it, it's no vacation.  it is the way of life now for the foreseeable future.  it stinks, but there you have it.  heard this week that the church where our quilt group meets is now off limits until at least february....nasty face masks are part of the wardrobe and endless testing reports are just plain boring.  my plans for the fall are practically none....except continue with my exercise regime and hack away at UFOs.  i do hope to take a few day trips around the area for a change of scenery.  if things worsen, well, there's always zoloft....now that alcohol is off limits...LOL!

  3. It's no vacation, that is for sure. Now that my employer has ordered us home until the end of the year, now I am no longer working from home because of corona, I am just now working from home.

And unbeknownst to me, I like working from home. And if they expect me to drive back into the office in the wintertime in Illinois, they need to rethink their priorities! LOL!

  4. The NE sampler is nearly there! And you deserve a treat for getting so many UFOs moved along.

  5. Your sampler is WONDERFUL! I adore it, your work is just lovely. Christmas 101 has inspired me to pull out a very old (25 yrs.?+)applique project entitled "The Adoration". I bought the first kit/block at a quilt shop in historic downtown Staunton, VA and subscribed to the subsequent block kits. I paid a FORTUNE for that, doing it that way, at the time and never have completed it. It's in a basket gathering dust, perhaps I need to gather some momentum myself and finish it up for Christmas this year, or at least make a stab at it. Thanks, Grace!!

  6. Your sampler quilt is looking so pretty! I think you are making wonderful progress.
That Christmas Nativity quilt is really a sweet representation of our Savior's birth.

  7. Your New England sampler looks great. It takes a lot of patience and commitment to stitch the vines, leaves, and flowers in the border. But, of course, so worth it in the end.

I don't like face masks, either, but there's not much chance of getting around without them for a while, at least. I don't take any medications but hey, Zoloft seems like it could be an option. ;-)
