a short and very sweet post to show off the latest finish....from barbara brackman's sew along called "stars in her crown"....a square for each of queen victoria's children....all paper pieced...gave me the opportunity to use some of the pretties in the stash....
so what's next? now in the hoop is this wall quilt done in plaids from a fons & porter book i got from marianne in june of 2019....i think it's fat quarter quilts....i love working with plaids as the bigger the variety the more stunning the piece i think...between this and the scrappy triangles, there just might be more room in the plaid stash....
hoping this one will be finished before vacation arrives....then a big quilt will be pulled from the basted pile to get done before the end of the year...corona-cation has been a quilting (and finish) boom for me...for years my life was chaos so this period of stepping back has allowed me to regroup and be more productive, not the least of which is enjoying the process so much more...but gotta go, a treadmill is whispering my name...LOL!
My you are a brave one! I chickened out on the "Stars in her Crown". Yours is gorgeous. And, those plaids - wow! That is going to be a sensational quilt. So happy to hear you are enjoying your staycation quilting. Guess we have to think there may be one good thing to come out of all this.
ReplyDeletethanks wendy...making lemonade out of pesky lemons...
DeleteSew pretty, Grace -- I like the half-rectangle edges on the stars. And you know I'm partial to homespuns. :)
ReplyDeletei do indeed know that nann...no doubt you recognize some...thanks for the kind words
DeleteYou are such an inspiration! I finished a few projects during this time but I have many more languishing in the closet. I love the plaid quilt. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteand thank you for visiting!
DeleteI'm mad about plaid too. These projects are wonderful, I can't believe how many things you're finishing up. I'm excited for you about your upcoming vacay~ we're considering doing a two week self-quarantine in anticipation of a trip up north. Maybe, fingers crossed, we'll see...
ReplyDeletehope you make it...thanks for the kind words...it's been my personal sewing retreat....daughter and i can't wait to be cold...LOL
DeleteOh, a very pretty finish! I am so impressed with your rate of productivity during this pandemic.
ReplyDeleteWhen you talk plaids, you are speaking my language! :)
Maybe there is a stationary bike calling my name, but it isn't calling loud enough! LOL
I love plaid quilts and yours is spectacular, how you've used several plaids in each block. So much energy!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right that our corona-cation has enabled many of us to finish some quilts or at least move them forward. You seem to be doing a spectacular job in the finishing department! Stars in Her Crown is wonderful. I never think to see what Barbara is doing because I am so not a repro fabric fan. But that little quilt is amazing.
