spring marches on!

ultra-quiet Easter for me....day spent quilting, fixing dinner, bit of laundry, watching library videos...here's one i can highly recommend:

based on true story about Hans von Meegeren, a player in fine art thievery during WW2...PBS had aired a special called, "Plunderer:  The Last Nazi Art Thief," another true story centered around Bruno Lohse...it is appalling how many museums own and display works with dodgy provenance and their shameless business dealings with people like Lohse.

quilting on the DWR continues with seemingly endless finish in sight...

more wensleydale blocks....i am really liking how these are turning out....the sewing area is a hot mess...piles of fabrics, tiny scraps, paper pieces everywhere...but nobody ever said creativity had to be neat....

on my computer i have a folder full of beach photos and i've used them as inspiration....i so miss being near the ocean no matter the season....

monday another chilly day...the sun is warm but the wind is still icy...not complaining at all...too soon it'll be endless sweltering days....

have a blessed day!

  5. Isn't that the truth about some projects, endless finish? While I'm in the middle of quilting some of those I ask myself, "Isn't this supposed to be fun? And the truth is, I'm enjoying the process, I just get impatient. I like your comment about creativity not being neat. I took a creativity test one time to measure my level of creativity. The question that stood out was, "Can your work amid clutter?" I thought of my mother who was such a wonderful seamstress. She would set up her machine at the kitchen table and sew away. She just dropped her clipped threads on the floor. The machine hummed and she made good use of her time. When it was time for dinner, he cleared everything up, vacuumed the floor, and set everything straight. I don't vacuum my floor after each afternoon at the sewing machine but I also put all my threads and scraps in the waste basket in the first place. I don't really think there is a way to measure creativity. I don't now and never have lived by the sea but there's something inside that longs for that experience. I was looking at some ocean themed applique blocks just Monday - longing to make them all. Sorry about such a long comment. You just got me thinking . . .

  6. It’s such good news to see that you’re sewing and creating again! God is good! I, too, love the colors that you’ve chosen for the Wensleydale blocks, so calm and soothing. I can seemingly make every quilt project that I begin an endless one; sigh. I do need to get a few things finished for my own peace of mind!
