hot couple of days so yes, it does feel spring indeed....no plans here except ?? if it stays dry might scoot around a bit just for fresh air...nice to have it bright in the mornings and late afternoon...
forging ahead on "wensleydale"....definitely not a fast project but actually eager to continue....3 blocks are done, biggie pile of fabrics threatens to overtake the studio area but variety is a must for this project.
and the first photo of this was nagging at me to swap out the block that was too dark....so i did...
ok now it's done....will get it basted and add to the quilting pile...
back to the memory lab yesterday and digitized 3 more of my dad's 8mm reels....aside from a bit of landscape--dad loved the woods and always filmed trees, lakes etc--some funny bits....for a while they had a pony/small horse and one film showed various family members taking a turn on her including mom! another bit showed my ex driving a motorcycle with my 4 yo along....so cute! i've 1 more reel plus some negatives and slides i'll do next....this is such a great library benefit saving us a small fortune. my dad would be thrilled to know his films that are 40-50 years old are still viable. he always said we'd be glad someday and he was right.
off to make the day's list and tackle...wishing you a delightful april fool's day...no foolin'!

Great job on the newest blocks. I think it is awesome to be able to digitize the old films!
ReplyDeletethanks...we are so excited to see them all
DeleteI've got 8mm reels. I'll ask if our library has thought about a memory lab. I'll be rooting for you as Wensleydale progresses!
ReplyDeletethanks...it's simply a machine called a kodak film digitizer...the 8mm reels take about 35 min or so to digitize as the machine photographs each frame...best of all it's free...hooks up to computer....once digitized it gets uploaded to computer...and then i copy to my own USB stick...
DeleteIt's nice to see another Wensleydale starting...I have the pattern/papers but haven't made a decision about fabrics yet - I like yours. Your swap out of the one block in your coloured top made a satisfying difference. Great that you can save your family memories like that.
ReplyDeleteYour words make me feel perky today. It must feel so good to be able to do the things your been waiting to do. The Wensleydale blocks look like fun. Are they hard to make or hard to pick out the color combinations? So glad your can get your film into a version that's more accesable. I did all my father's slides during Covid. It was quite an undertaking and I'm so glad it's done. I was able to share them with my brother and sister.
ReplyDelete(Even all the old deer hunting pictures - ha!)
i choose the fabrics for one block at a time...a bit time consuming but my patience limit allows me to do 2-3 per day if i keep at it...
ReplyDeleteI am thrilled for you that your vision has returned! I cannot imagine the horror as a quilter of not being able to see! I have become so addicted to this art that my mind just thinks about it almost constantly. Although I can only sew for a few hours daily, still it is on my mind. So, for you, thinking of quilting and not being able to do it plus not being able to read or cook or do much of anything, must have been the most horrendous time! Welcome back to the colorful world we all love so much!
ReplyDeleteThat’s fabulous that you can digitise things at the library. It must be fun to see the old images come to life again.
