throwback thursday

heh, heh, heh, me and the older brother one christmas, circa 1957....my aunt used to love putting angel hair on the christmas tree..i always loved the way the colored lights would shine through it...pure magic!  and curls by tonette too!  another cool summer day here, sooo comfortable and ideal for doing anything.  well, some chores done, now to dress and get sewing!

  1. Cute, cute photo, Grace!
My Mom used to put angel hair over the "snow" of her Christmas village--little painted cardboard houses from the dime store. The aura it gave the lights was magical, but I remember if you touched it you could get an itchy reaction that was no fun! : ).

  2. I love ths photo! I remember angel hair, too... and Tonette ("the home permanent made with the younger woman in mind") too; I had one that turned out so frizzy that my mother made me wear a hat for weeks! ;) Ha!! We've had "open the windows" sewing weather today and it is simply glorious!

  3. Didn't all little girls of that era have at least one Tonette perm? I can still smell those chemicals to this day. lol! And then afterwards our moms would dig grooves into our scalps as they created pin curls. I smile now, but back then? Not so much!

  5. Hello a friend of mine born Ohio who has never heard of Angel Hair on a Christmas tree. I was raised on Angel Hair on the tree! My friend says maybe it was a West Coast thing as I was raised in California So my question to you ladies is where are you from?
