leaving the nest

remember this quilt?  finished some time ago, it's been sitting on the shelf patiently until a certain event.  today it is getting packed up and mailed off to its recipient.  also going off is the orca bay flimsy to a charity where it will be finished and gifted to a needy family.  that'll make some space on the shelf for more recent finishes.  it's a constant battle in such a small space for all my sewing and quilting stuff.  i periodically go thru clothing items and toss some and i haven't really added much in the way of fabric because it's being used all the time.  ****  off to tackle today's list!

  1. That is very generous of you, and disciplined. It is not easy to keep ahead of stuff, I think I am falling behind, fabric intake is exceeding output.

  2. Grace....that is a pretty quilt...I would be tempted to hand quilt it...I'll bet your daughter would have liked it...but you are doing something wonderful...someone needy will cherish it..as well they should...may I ask where you got the pattern, looks sort of like a 9 patch alternated with a snowball sort of...

  3. Are you documenting these tops before sending them off, or do you keep a quilt journal? I have "loosely" kept one and have been trying to get my Mom to document her quilting.
Good of you to share your talent with those who need help.

  4. Hi Grace, do you know where you had gotten the pattern to this quilt? I think I'd like to make one like it.

  5. for those looking for this pattern, it's called "lovers' links" and it came from a magazine some time ago, maybe 2003 or 2004? not sure now. don't know if i could even find the pattern, that's if i kept it. it is a snowball block and also units of small squares surrounding a larger square, and also 4 patches and then rectangles (white) with scrappy corner squares. i'll look for the pattern and let you know if i find it...
